Applications

Glutaric Anhydride is used in the production of the glutaric acid based family of pharmaceuticals, and a variety of pesticide products and wide number of papers outline the scope of its usage. It is used as a raw material in the manufacture of flavours. It is also used in the production of polymers, particularly modified unsaturated linear (epoxy) polyesters with interesting effects on cure speed and reactivity. Derivatives are used in certain corrosion inhibitors, some surfactants and metal finishing compounds, and literature reports its use in plastics and plasticizers. It has found application in improvement of electrode/electrolyte interfaces in High-Voltage Spinel Lithium-Ion batteries as an electrolyte additive.
